I am getting ready, as I do every Thursday, to deliver meals on wheels. I am running late, as I am usually running on Thursdays! What it is not doing, which it has been doing every Thursday for as long as I can remember, is raining! So, I am extremely thankful for that. It may rain later, but I won't get wet delivering my meals!
I decided to do a photo Thankful Thursday, just to give you guys some ideas for the contest .... come on now... we need entries and this is a shameless way to get them! If I've piqued your interest... please click on Mike Saunder's post about the contest... time is running out to enter!
This is something I bought with money Max gave me for Mother's Day this year. I love to buy flowers when my son gives me money, so I can always tell him and show him how I spent it! It's a gift that keeps giving and I am thankful Max always listens to me when I tell him what I want.
O
Obviously, this one doesn't really need an explanation. This little fella is something to be thankful for every minute, and the vision of his little face is enough to warm the coldest heart!
My astilbe... glorious! This is a short-lived perrenial, but when it blooms, it is a beauty. I am thankful it blooms just before our annual vacation so that I get to see it and enjoy it before I go.
Ah yes... I know. I already mentioned my little fella! Some things just beg to be repeated and this is one. If this isn't a vision of thanks, I don't know what is. Look at that button nose! Look at those warm brown eyes and that messy head!! Who wouldn't love this dog? JJ is named after my husband Jack who did not want a dog. He did not want a dog for 24 years, exactly 1/2 the time I've wanted a dog... 48 years and counting. Well, it took me long enough and we argued about it often enough that I finally did it last year... one of the best arguments I've ever won. To be a bit bitchy I named the little guy Jack Junior. To be a little ornery, Jack tells everyone he's named after Jesse Jackson!!!
Life is hard, life is hectic, life can be disappointing at times. But there is always, always, always, something to be thankful for. My sons, my mom, my entire network of family and friends, are healthy and it's summertime, and soon, I'll be on a beach reading a book, so I am thankful.
Carpe Diem!!

JJ is definately a mini summer! :)
Rob, I know... they are both cute... JJ is just cuter! xxoo
Hi Susan, Thanks for sharing these great photos. JJ is so cute and the flowers are beautiful.
Nice post Susan. I love the pictures of the flowers! Very sincere, caring way to spend your Mother's Day money!
I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!
Best regards.

"This is something I bought with money Max gave me for Mother's Day this year."
Wait a minute...how does that work? he gave YOU $$$? Never in a million years at our house, that's a miracle and you have certainly raised you boys right! I have to say that JJ ( I love the naming story) is probably the one who rules the house...right after you of course! (and when the cat is absent)
Beautiful pictures, all of them! Susan, I was going to ask you what the pink flowers are, but you mentioned...astilbe? Beautiful!
Hi Lou! JJ always has a good day!
Russell, Max always gets me a sentimental gift or gives me money to buy flowers. Very sweet child. My little JJ is too sweet to try to rule the house!
Hi Joanna, thank you!
Sis,
We have those blue ones down here...I forgot what they are called...but I always thought they reminded me of lilacs without the scent.
The beach with a book. That sounds so great. I love your flowers and of course I love JJ.
Susan,
I'll save you the trouble of translating today. "You're the Best."
Rich
Thankful Thursday..this is a new one to me.. but I love it.. cute dogie.. :)
Any of the flowers you take a picture of Susan are always tremendous but this week your focused closeup of JJ takes the prize for me. What a loveable fella and you deserve him for sure in your life and I know he loves having the happy home he has found with you all. Summertime is good, for sure.
Susan, our tastes run the same, I have both of those flowers in my garden too. Mine are just starting to bloom. Of course your little fellow is a heartbreaker, love him!
Have a safe and relaxing vacation, take lots of photos for blogging when you return!!
Hello Susan,
What a nice post and I loved the photos of the beautiful flowers and your cute little pooch! Thank you for sharing.
Rita
Hi Neal.. They are hydrangeas. They vary in color depending on your soil, or so I thought. But I a pink one by my house and a blue one by the pool!! xxoo
Tammy, I hope your week is looking up. I'm sorry it's not been a good one. Believe me, I know. I have had a lot of weeks like that this year. But soon, I'll be at the beach!
Rich, and I feel the same way about you, my Italian brother!
Konnie, check out Mike Saunder's posts. He started Thankful Thursday. And thank you, my doggie is a doll!!
Gary, I just love that picture too! He is so sweet and he just makes me so happy! Thank you!
Caren, thank you!! I have to come over to your blog and see if you've posted any pictures of your garden!!
Hi Rita! thank you!!
Susan - JJ is so adorable, I see why everyone loves him. Thanks for your Thankful Thursday.
Hydrangea is my favorite flower and mine have not bloomed yet so thanks for sharing yours!
Hi Susan, I love the photos, and especially your closing paragraph. It's true, there is always something to be thankful for, and your thankful Thursdays are one! Have a wonderful time on the beach with a book -- now there is another one!
Is JJ going to the beach too?
JJ is loving it here Tammy!!
Susan - beautiful flowers and a cute JJ. I like Jack's sense of humor, at least on the dog's name!
